Aluminum Rear Skid Plate w/ Oil Door for Can-Am Maverick X3
If you have a Can-AM Maverick, you know how much beating the rear skid plate takes. The stock plastic plate is usually destroyed in a few hundred miles. The worst part is the thin steel plate on top of the skid plate has a lip that will cut into the transmission as the skid plate pounds on it. Now you need a new transmission, and we don't even want to tell you what that costs.
Protect the rear of your machine with tried and true, aluminum plate. Available in 3/16" or 1/4" thick, these will take more abuse than you can give! This will be the last time you need to buy a skid plate for your X3. Also, our skid plate includes an oil door, to take the mess out of changing the oil.
Why use Aluminum....isn't plastic better?
When was the last time you saw a trophy truck or any off-road race vehicle with plastic skid plates. Never. It doesn't happen. The only reason plastic skid plates are out there is price...aluminum has recently more than doubled in price due to the presidents tariffs. Lets face it...plastic isn't going to take the place of metal.
But don't plastic skid plates slide over rocks?
No, they don't. Actually they do just the opposite! The only time a plastic skid plate is slick is when its brand new...as soon as you ride with it, it gets rough...and when a pointy rock pushes on it, the rock embeds in the plastic (assuming it doesn't just crack!) which makes your vehicle hang up on the rock, where the aluminum would allow it to slide off.
